

Pilot Mountain is located on US Highway 52, not far from Mount Airy, North Carolina. It is a distinctive mountain, rising up from the surrounding land, with a large exposed granite dome called Big Pinnacle. It affords views to the east of Sauratown Mountain and Moore's Knob, and to the north and west, of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The mountain is part of Pilot Mountain State Park, which includes a trail system for hiking and other activities. The Jomeokee Trail makes a loop around the base of Big Pinnacle.
